Give Hope
“Promise me you’ll always remember: you’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” — Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh
Today’s theme will focus on giving hope for ourselves and others. Decades of research show hope is a strong predictor of mental health. Not only does it make life more enjoyable, but hope also provides resilience against things like post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. Hope is how we can think about our goals for the future, the extent that we can identify pathways or strategies to achieve those goals and then maintaining the motivation to keep working towards those goals, even in the face of obstacles or setbacks.
Today’s activities will assist you in giving hope by showing appreciation, offering help and providing encouragement to those in need. We hope you enjoy exploring the variety of online resources and workshops as you grow in your understanding of the importance of taking care of your mental health and well-being.

Take Action for Mental Health Art and Video Contest
RCOE, along with Riverside University Health System, Behavioral and Public Health and Directing Change Inc., have created a Take Action for Mental Health Art and Video Contest for students ages TK-25.
The contest will encourage students to use various forms of art to share their thoughts and ideas about mental health and wellness. Students have three themes to choose from, Dear Me (a letter to their future selves), Hope (changes they hope to see), and Justice (how young people are "more than a mental illness"). Awards will be presented by grade levels and submissions are due May 31, 2022.
