Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Riverside County (ARC)

The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Riverside County (ARC) team operates within the College and Career Readiness unit of the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) in the Educational Services Division. Our mission is to collaborate with school districts across Riverside County and throughout California, addressing the opportunity gap and preparing all students for college and career readiness. Our dedication lies in ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or zip code, possesses the necessary academic skills, social-emotional competencies, and personal attributes to thrive in an ever-changing global society.

In partnership and collaboration with the national AVID Center, supporting all students and providing professional learning opportunities for educators is at the core of the ARC team's mission. We recognize that the success of our students hinges on the expertise and commitment of our educational leaders and our role is to equip educators with research-based methodologies and ongoing training, empowering them to effectively implement AVID strategies in their classrooms. 

Our role and support will include:

• Strategic planning including analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and devising action plans in partnership with schools and districts.

• Developing data-driven action plans which drive schoolwide improvement including College and Career Readiness Indicator dashboards, K-12 literacy, Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) indicators, Differentiated Assistance, Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), etc. 

• Aligning coaching support with strategic objectives to maximize its impact and facilitate lasting positive changes in educational institutions.

• Providing differentiated site and district support including professional development that tailors to their current needs as well as creating ongoing AVID Center learning opportunities.
