During the time of school closures, the Arts Leads of Riverside County have used a variety of innovative approaches to create equitable and exciting opportunities in the visual and performing arts for students.

Moreno Valley USD Visual and Performing Arts

Arts Coordinator: Greg Solomon

  • Created the Virtual Arts Festival.
  • Provided online Elementary Fine Arts and P.E. lessons.
  • Planned proactively for the fall through regular staff discussions.

Murrieta Valley USD Visual and Performing Arts

Arts Coordinator: Carol Hernandez

  • Converted the Horizons Unlimited art program to an online format.
  • Posted weekly teaching artist videos for student, teacher, and parent use.

Palm Springs USD Visual and Performing Arts

Arts Coordinator: Barbara Anglin

  • Converted the Musical Theatre University program to an online format.
  • Distributed Lady Lead arts “care packages” to middle school girls participating in the program.

Riverside USD Visual and Performing Arts

Arts Specialist: Annemarie Guzy

  • Created the Alice in Wonderland District-Wide Collaborative Arts Project.
  • Distributed art making materials to high school art students.
  • Provided a middle and high school online art show.

Val Verde USD Visual and Performing Arts

Arts Specialist: Allyson Huntsman

  • Created the Quarantine Art Challenge.
  • Provided an online summer program in the arts.
  • Purchased new band equipment for the coming school year.
