RCOE VAPA is partnering with CSSSA to get the word out about their Summer School for the Arts!

For teens who love to create, the California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) welcomes 500+ high school students each summer to celebrate and explore the arts. CSSSA is a California state program that makes the arts affordable and accessible during this month-long, immersive experience. Generous funding is available, and all are encouraged to apply for scholarships. CSSSA offers seven areas of study, including Animation, Dance, Film, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, and Writing. It is a pre-professional program where students earn up to three college credits and become part of a community of artists that they take with them for life.

CSSSA’s Diverse Community: Our 2022 session will be held this July at the California Institute of the Arts, located in Valencia, California. Students come from across the entire state for this intensive arts experience. CSSSA’s mission is to reflect the diverse cultural heritage of California through the student body, faculty, and curriculum.

CSSSA + Opportunity: Many CSSSA students receive funding to attend the program through scholarships provided by the CSSSA Foundation and generous donors. Scholarships are need-based, and all are encouraged to apply.

CSSSA’s 7 Arts Disciplines: CSSSA students major in Animation, Dance, Film, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, and Writing. Many work together in cross-disciplinary collaborations. Students also attend workshops and masterclasses by world-renowned artists from across the state and the world. Students are immersed in creativity 24/7.

The CSSSA Application: The online application is now live for Summer 2022; https://csssa.embark.com/apply/2022. The application is due by Monday, February 28, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to ensure a successful submission!

COVID-19 Update: CSSSA is committed to the safety of our students this summer, 2022. The program will run in-person and follow all California state and Los Angeles County regulations to ensure the health and safety of our community.
