Louisa Higgins, Arts Administrator and Jeannine Flores, Los Angeles County Office of Education Arts & STEAM Coordinator undertook a yearlong project on behalf of the California County Superintendents. Their revised unit of the Creativity at the Core Module 12 is entitled Leadership in Arts Education.

The module itself is packed full of many meaningful resources that consist of PowerPoint slide decks, webinars, downloads, and links. Because of the breadth and depth of the materials offered, we have introduced it just a bit at a time. This is the final installment of our introduction.

The last, and possibly most pertinent resource we would like to introduce to a broader audience is the PowerPoint entitled “Leadership Development through Creative Action Planning.” Written by top strategic planning coaches Peggy Burt and Kimberleigh Aarn, it describes how schools and districts can engage in creative action planning to have maximum impact on arts education programming. Since the passing of Prop 28, with its new and sustainable funding for the arts, this information is timely and vital.

In conjunction with that presentation, we would like to share the link to the newly produced Strategic Arts Education Planning Guide, put together by CreateCA, the LA County Arts Ed Collective, and Los Angeles County Arts and Culture:

We are grateful to CCSESA for allowing RCOE and LACOE the opportunity to create this resource for educators throughout California. We also appreciate the incredible work of the expert contributors and production team who assisted in producing the module.
