Denim has played a critical role in the history of our country and continues to be an iconic symbol of American style and fashion. This year, students were invited to create an ensemble that features and highlights denim as a material.

Contest Parameters

  • Must be an outfit/ensemble that you have modified in some way(s) to create an original work of fashion.
  • Clothing items should originate from a thrift or vintage shop, upcycling from one’s own wardrobe, sewn, or otherwise crafted from scratch.
  • You may spend no more than $25.00 on outfit materials.
  • Priority is on innovation, construction, creativity and unique interpretations.

Prizes

  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be displayed in the store window of The Fine Art of Design in Palm Desert, California.
  • The 1st place winner will receive two complimentary tickets to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Fashion Show in March.
  • All winning designs will receive a plaque from the Arts at RCOE as well as being featured in an online gallery.

Submission Information

Dates: Thursday, October 12, 2023 – Friday, December 8, 2023

Please use the Get Your Style On Google Submission Form to submit your entry for consideration.

Note: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will need to arrange to drop off their prize-winning ensembles to one of the Riverside County Office of Education administrative offices in Murrieta, Riverside, or Indio, California.

WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2023.
