How is fashion influenced by artists and the work that they create? Can you re-imagine your favorite artist/artwork in a piece of clothing or ensemble? This contest is your opportunity to link the worlds of art and fashion through your creation while showing off your creativity and design prowess!

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from this year's competition are now featured in a window display at the vintage fashion store THE FINE ART of DESIGN. The store is located at 73717 Highway 111, Palm Desert, CA 92260-4016. The display will be up through Saturday, May 13th.

Contest Parameters

• Must be an outfit/ensemble that you have modified in some way(s) to create an original work of fashion.
• Clothing items should originate from a thrift or vintage shop, upcycling from one’s own wardrobe, sewn or otherwise crafted from scratch.
• You may spend no more than $25.00 on outfit materials.
• Priority is on innovation, construction, creativity and unique interpretations.

Prizes

• 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Most Original, Most Outstanding, Most Colorful, Most Playful, and Judge’s Favorite.
• 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be displayed in the store window of The Fine Art of Design.
• The 1st place winner will receive two complimentary tickets to the FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) Fashion Show in March.
• All winning designs will receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Arts at RCOE as well as being featured in an online gallery.

Submission Information

Dates: January 2-15, 2023

Please use the Get Your Style On Submission Form to submit your entry for consideration.

Note: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will need to arrange to drop off their prize-winning ensembles to one of the Riverside County Office of Education offices in Murrieta, Riverside, or Indio, California.

WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2023.
