Cyber High Program

Credit Accrual/Recovery

The Migrant Cyber High Program creates pathways to success through supporting high school graduation and promoting college and career readiness. Cyber High is a semi-independent, online study program for students in grades 9-12. This Program is used for credit recovery, content remediation, and targeted interventions to ensure that students receive credits towards their graduation and fulfill A-G requirements.

This program is made available to all migrant students in Region VII.

Outdoor Education Camps

The Migrant Education program provides Science based summer camps for students in grades 6-8 and a Leadership Development camp for students in grades 9-12.

Instructional Support Programs

The In-Home Migrant Tutorial Program is a home-based program that provides comprehensive academic support to migrant students in grades K-12. Teachers visit students and their families in their homes to provide one-on-one assistance in ELA, mathematics, and ELD.

Summer Academic Programs

Site-Based and Home-Based

In coordination with school districts, migrant students receive academic services that help build on their academic levels and promote academic success.

Services are offered to migrant students in preschool through grade 12.

Out of School Youth (OSY) Program

Who are OSY? An OSY must be a migratory worker or a child of a migratory worker who is not currently enrolled in school and has not graduated from high school Services offered to Migrant OSY:

• Educational guidance
• Job training resources
• Needs Assessments
• Individualized Learning Plans
• Referrals to educational programs and other agencies
• College transition activities
• Leadership development activities
• Health services

Summer University Residential Programs

The Migrant Education program collaborates with various Universities to provide students with a comprehensive Residential Program that enables students to gain a perspective of “college life.” Student activities include:

• Class time
• Rigorous Curriculum
• Participation in workshops and informational sessions
• Leadership development
• Learning about the University admissions process and financial aid
• Interaction with other migrant students from different regions

The University Residential programs are typically six nights/five days and target middle school and high school students. Universities we have ongoing collaborations include: Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, and University of California, Riverside.

Migrant Education School Readiness Program (MESRP)

We believe that parents are their children’s first and most important teacher! The Migrant Education School Readiness Program is a home-based Family Literacy program designed to prepare preschool children for greater academic success. The program serves families with children between the ages of three and five. Through MESRP, children are provided with a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes kindergarten readiness skills; parents are provided with a teacher who models adult-child interactions and appropriate activities for the preschool aged child. Teachers work closely with parents and encourage them to take an active role in their child’s education.

Migrant Education Bookmobile Services

The Migrant Education Program’s Bookmobile is a mobile library that provides migrant students with access to leveled books, literacy development, and academic support. The bookmobile is equipped with a credentialed teacher and offers the following services:

• Accelerated Reader
• STAR Reading
• Leveled reading material
• Homework assistance
