Reaching out to provide effective services to students with autism and their families.

About 1 in 54 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to estimates from CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. With the ongoing growth in student enrollment in the Inland Empire, there has been a dramatic increase in the demand for services for children with autism in this region.

Early intervention through educational programming is the primary form of treatment for individuals with autism. The Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) Reach Autism Program has developed educational programs to meet this need for students and their families and the professionals who serve them.

RCOE Reach Autism Programs are committed to developing a culture of caring and compassionate support to children with autism and the families who love them.

Our program’s success is founded in partnerships and the strength of relationships with students, families, co-workers, district and agency staff, colleges and universities, local communities, and you.

Model Autism Classroom Programs

RCOE serves children with autism in a classroom setting by providing empirically-based methodologies and an integrated approach to educational services. These programs offer a variety of evidence-based practices and individualized services to meet the unique needs of each student.

Intensive Behavior Intervention (IBI)
The IBI program is built on practices of behavior intervention that have been widely researched and shown to be effective for students with autism. The IBI program will enhance the students’ existing skills while directly teaching deficit skill areas using a proactive and positive approach to increase student success. Parent Involvement and Support
We partner with families, through parent education, including ongoing meetings, trainings, and workshops. Many of our families volunteer in our classrooms and form lasting relationships with other families.

Professional Development
Providing highly qualified staff is an important goal for RCOE. Individual and group instruction is provided on a regular basis on the most current and effective methodologies for the treatment of autism in an educational setting.
