Bullying Prevention
Bullying can have harmful effects on student well-being, student learning, and school attendance. Find information on what RCOE is doing to provide a safe school environment and how to report bullying.

Interdistrict Attendance Appeals
If a student is denied attendance at a school outside his/her district of residence, the student or student’s parent/guardian may have an appeal to the Riverside County Board of Education.

Expulsion Appeals
Parents may appeal a local board’s decision to expel to the Riverside County Board of Education.

Uniform Complaint Procedure
A student, parent, guardian, employee, individual, or organization may file a written complaint alleging discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying on the basis of protected characteristic under RCOE’s Uniform Complaint Procedures.

School Employee Code of Conduct
The County Board of Education and County Superintendent of Schools expect all employees to exercise good judgment and maintain professional standards and ethical boundaries when interacting with students.

Suicide Prevention
Suicide is a leading cause of death among youth. School personnel who regularly interact with students are often in a position to recognize the warning signs of suicide and to offer appropriate referral and/or assistance. RCOE is actively implementing strategies to reduce suicidal behavior and its impact on students and families.

Translation and Interpretation Services
Translation and interpretation services for languages other than English including American Sign Language are available to parents for meetings regarding their children.

Title IX: Prohibiting Sex-Based Discrimination
Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in all educational programs and activities, including athletic programs. No person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity operated by RCOE. Title IX protects all participants in RCOE’s educational programs and activities, including students, parents, employees, and job applicants. RCOE does not discriminate on the basis of sex. Discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment and sexual violence.
