Audience: High School Educators
For some students, Math III, Algebra 2, and Precalculus are often daunting options. Join this session to learn the key components of a full-year, ‘C’ level UC-approved course with a prerequisite of Math I/Algebra 1. Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications helps students gain critical financial literacy skills they need as adults— this course is really for ALL students! This course is also written to meet the requirements of an "Algebra 2" discipline to assist students in meeting A-G CSU requirements.

FAFSA and CA Dream Act as a High School Graduation Requirement: Ensuring all students have access and opportunities to a post-secondary education

Governor Newsom has included FAFSA or CA Dream Act submission as a requirement in his K-12 and Higher Education budget proposal. Assembly member Eloise Gomez Reyes has also proposed similar legislation in AB 469, which just received unanimous support from the Assembly Education Committee. This webinar showcases two Riverside County school districts who have implemented financial aid application completion as a graduation requirement.
Learn the latest information on the current policy/budget proposal, hear from district leaders first-hand about their journey to making FAFSA completion a graduation requirement, best practices for completion with high schools that are leading the state, and leave with an understanding on the impact this systemic policy can mean for students and college affordability.

EVERFI has developed Vault: Understanding Money with a focus on developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills that build toward better financial health. Vault leverages real-life scenarios and game-based learning to assess and certify students in a variety of critical skills like budgeting, needs versus wants, and career planning. Teachers will leave this session fully set up to implement 1 to 5, fifteen-minute lessons in a way that promotes financial responsibility for life. All EVERFI resources are available at no cost.

During this session, we will review FREE digital financial literacy resources available to use at home, including Vault: Understanding Money (3rd-5th grade), FutureSmart (6th-8th grade), and EVERFI Financial Literacy (9th-12th grade). Each lesson leverages interactive & game-based learning to engage students in a variety of critical life skills like budgeting, needs versus wants, and career planning with the use of real-life scenarios. During this session, families and community members will set up accounts so their own students can explore the lessons!

Financial education is more than dollars and cents. It is about establishing better spending habits, instilling confidence, and equipping the next generation with the skills to pursue big financial goals. Join us to learn how EVERFI’s free Financial Literacy Suite of supplemental resources may fit your district's initiatives and content area standards. EVERFI’s lesson library offers digital financial education lessons for grades 4 through 12. Each program offers a range of scenario-based activities, allowing students to put their saving, spending, and financial planning skills to practice in a real-world context. EVERFI will provide an overview of the digital programs, discuss best practices for training educators, provide examples of how to incorporate lessons into curriculum, and how to set up your district for single-sign-on.
