The following RCOE divisions and units are dedicated to providing professional development training and career advancement opportunities. The School of Education was established to meet the growing demand for credentialed and highly-qualified staff, in addition to units under our Educational Services and Student Programs and Services divisions.

Every student in Riverside County will graduate from high school academically and socially prepared for college, the workforce,
and civic responsibility.

Many of our units and programs provide countywide and regional support for professional networking groups, as well as continuously developing educational resources to assist district and school administrators and teacher leaders with the latest data-driven solutions for classrooms and targeted student groups. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for Educators

Begin your journey of developing a sustainable creative practice to release stress, increase empathy, and encourage kindness to yourself as you learn to create Paper Collages. This art project will pay special attention to the music, feelings of the participant, color choices and cutting techniques to design your collage.

Seventh Riverside County Educator of the Year Named in Final Surprise Virtual Visit

RIVERSIDE – Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Edwin Gomez, named a confidential administrative assistant as the final 2021 Riverside County Educator of the Year in a virtual surprise visit held on Wednesday, March 10.

Attended by colleagues, superintendents, and district and county employees, the surprise visit highlighted Consuelo Rodriguez as Confidential Employee of the Year.

Confidential Employee of the Year

Consuelo Rodriguez is a confidential administrative assistant for Personnel Services, Desert Sands Unified School District. She has worked in education for 12 years with five of them serving as a confidential employee. Her work has afforded her the opportunity to directly connect with employees – whether it be in good times such as assisting with leaves to bond with their newborns, leaves to pursue higher education, and promotions and bad times such as their time of loss, mourning, illness, and discipline processes. At the end of her career, Consuelo hopes to have made every single employee feel heard, valued, and part of the team.

Visibly moved by the surprise announcement, Consuelo Rodriguez said, “I am honored by this recognition and so very grateful. I look up to people, they motivate me to be a better employee, and there are many I look up to in this district. I am so grateful and this is so unexpected.”

Riverside County Confidential Employee of the Year

The Riverside County Educators of the Year are selected from the more than 36,000 educational employees in the county. The rigorous application process starts with nominations by teachers, classified employees, and school district administrators throughout the county. Applications are then submitted to the Riverside County Office of Education, where an outside selection committee selects the honorees before the county superintendent announcement.

Clarification: The 2021 Teachers of the Year were named in mid-2020 to align with the 2021 California State Teacher of the Year competition. The 2022 Riverside County Teachers of the Year will be announced in May/June of 2021.
